Matlage Barn (Closed for 2024 Fall Tour Due to Family Emergency), 4293 Nevada St, Prole (Warren County) – 1/4 mile directly east of St Mary’s on north side of road
Barn built between 1910 to 1915 by two bachelor farmers, the Quinn brothers, housing hogs and work horses on their 160-acre farm. Clifford and Mary Ellen Matlage bought 80 acres of the farm around 1955, and it has been in the family since. Currently serves as a working cattle barn providing shelter during inclement weather and housing owners’ granddaughter’s 4-H calves and an orange cat named Pumpkin.
