Tenley Farms Barn

Tenley Farms Barn, 681 120th St, Mechanicsville (Cedar County) – 3/4 of a mile NW of Mechanicsville, 2 miles N off of HWY 30

Bank barn was built in the 1860s with storage for grains, hay, and straw in the upper level. The bottom of the barn was redone in the 1950’s where Richard (Father) and Dennis (Son) Tenley milked cows for several decades.  Dairy cattle and draft horses were housed in the barn at that time also. Milk house was added in the 1970’s.  Barn currently used to house and milk dairy cows as part of a direct-to-consumer farming operation.  Approximately 350 gallons of raw milk is bottled in the milk house weekly and sold directly to the farm’s customers (Choose Iowa Member Site).
