Ballenger 1891 Barn, 2353 220th St, Bennett (Cedar County)
This barn was thought to be built in 1891. It is a unique barn as the supports in the barn are made with trimmed tree trunks and limbs. The interior is all open with pens on the sides. When this barn was originally built, the doors on the outer walls were larger than they are now to allow for the draft horses. This is now a cattle barn. The haymow door is divided in the middle to be pulled down the rails under the overhang rather than dropped down from the peak of the roof. Larry and Linda Ballenger are your hosts.
