Knotek-Marek Barn (New for 2024), 2510 180th Street, Riverside (Washington County)
This 1920’s gambrel-style barn was used by the Knotek family for their Purebred Duroc hog enterprise and beef cattle operation for over 60 years. The barn was home to the Knotek Brothers prized sire, Fancy Stilts, who was the Iowa State Champion in 1926. Current use is for the Marek family cow-calf operation while serving as the center of operations for many 4-H project animals. The owners have invested in preserving the barn to ensure it will remain a hub of family activity for future generations (Preservation Award).
