Toad Hall

Toad Hall (New in 2023), 919 E. Main St. , Waukon (Allamakee County)

This  gambrel roof bank barn was built in 1912.  The owners have taken steps to preserve the barn including window/door replacement 2012, foundation repair in 2014, and fresh coat of paint in 2020.  The barn was originally built for general farming operations.  The upper was used for hay storage and includes two grain storage rooms. The lower level housed the livestock and has a cement floor.  The name Toad Hall was decided on by the family as a reference to the novel Wind in the Willows and  their daughters love of catching the numerous toads on the property.  (Award of Distinction).
